Highlights:
The SkyHook JHL-40 (Jess Heavy Lifter – 40 tones) is the first of its kind and will revolutionize the VTOL world. This new category, known as Neutrally Buoyant Aircraft, utilizes a combination of aerostatic lift and rotorcraft technologies to transport heavy loads.
SkyHook services will first be offered in remote regions of the world where conventional transportation infrastructure doesn’t already exist or where building such infrastructure is difficult, costly and environmentally unfavourable.
With a 40-ton (80,000 lbs / 36,250 kg) lifting capacity, the SkyHook JHL-40 integrates with current intermodal transportation methods. The JHL-40’s capacity is approximately two times the world’s current largest vertical lift (the MI-26 helicopter), and allows industries operating in remote regions further flexibility and cost reduction.
The JHL-40 will have a fully loaded range of up to 200 nautical miles (370 km) without refuelling. It is self-deployable worldwide with an 800 nautical mile ferry range. Much like today’s helicopters, all loads will be externally connected, and with very precise station keeping capabilities the aircraft will be able to accurately position and release payloads.
SkyHook and Boeing have teamed up in order to bring this revolutionary service to market. Boeing brings world-class expertise in aircraft design and manufacturing, and SkyHook brings the concept, operational capabilities and knowledge to service clientele around the world.
